Switzerland, Norway and Venezuela Top the List of Most Expensive Places to Live in the World


The graphic below shows which nations have the highest cost of living, based on the average price of consumer goods in each country. Places like Canada, Australia and many parts of Europe have the highest cost of living according to Numbeo’s data. Whereas, places such as Malayisa, Philippines, parts of South America, India and the Sub continent have the lowest costs of living.

Below are the 15 countries with the highest costs of living, according to Numbeo’s data.

The living costs in each country are measured against a base of 100, which represents New York City’s cost of living.

For instance, the data shows that living in Switzerland is 26.03% more expensive than living in New York City, whereas living in Belgium is 12.78% less expensive than living in New York City.
